IMAGINE THIS.....

You're out to dinner and the menu has no prices on it, but at the bottom of the page it states all dishes are charged at $150 per hour or part there of, plus materials (food).

You would probably want to ask the waitress how long she thinks the Steak will take to cook, and how long the chips etc will take to make. How much harder do you think the job of the waitress just got?  And imagine the complaints if the steak ended up taking longer to cook than the waitress had told the customer? I reckon the number of price complaints the restaurant gets would be out of control.....  It would also make the restaurant much harder to systemise, and keep good staff.

CUSTOMERS WILL THINK THE HOURLY RATE IS OUTRAGEOUS AND TELL YOU THAT WHAT YOU CHARGE FOR A STEAK IS RIPPING PEOPLE OFF! (SOUND FAMILIAR?)

The restaurant would then try and explain that the high hourly rate and excessive food mark-up is to cover the overheads of the restaurant for eg., rent, wages, equipment, insurance, gas, electricity.........etc etc. and lastly but certainly not least, is the profit margin on top.

But the Menu Based Pricing restaurant of today doesn't have to justify any of this stuff.....because the price for the food is known before you order it, you decide how much you would like to spend and whether to buy any extra or not!
